This small plate is made in the Tatara technique, a hand built, slab making method used in traditional Japanese pottery regions for thousands of years. The studio Rokuro are known for their expert glazing techniques. The deep plum colour of the eggplant has been perfectly matched while the calyx is glazed with silver platinum for decorative effect. 

Perfect for d'oeuvres and condiment, the dish makes a whimsical addition to any table setting. It comes individually boxed making it great for gift wrapping.

Rokuro Blut's has been producing ceramics since 1986 in Higashi-Mino in the Gifu Prefecture Japan. Using traditional techniques as well as contemporary glazing their homewares have quite a unique character. The 'made in Japan' status is a source of particular pride as there's such a long tradition of craftsmanship in their region.
